Lighting the Way: Share the Light Foundation Installs First Community Food Pantry

The West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce proudly joined Share the Light Foundation for a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony on Friday, April 25, celebrating the successful installation of the Foundation’s first free community food pantry.

This milestone represents a powerful step forward in addressing food insecurity across Northeast Louisiana. The pantry was made possible through an inspiring collaboration of local leaders, volunteers, and donors. We applaud Sarah Tremaine for her vision, Creede Dawkins for his construction assistance, the enthusiastic local youth who helped bring it to life, and Boy Scout Troop 37 for their generous food donations. Community members also showed incredible support by contributing non-perishable items to stock the pantry.

“This is exactly the kind of grassroots initiative that strengthens our region,” said Kristopher Kelley, Executive Director of the WMWO Chamber of Commerce. “When individuals see a need and act with compassion—and when the community shows up to help—it creates lasting impact. Share the Light Foundation is doing important work, and we’re proud to stand alongside them in support.”

The newly launched pantry is open to the public living nearby and stocked with food for anyone in need. It marks the first of many planned installations by Share the Light Foundation, as part of their mission to our community.

The Chamber encourages all residents and businesses to help spread awareness, donate, and take part in this growing movement to serve and uplift our neighbors.
