West Monroe Gar Rodeo & Boat and Outdoor Expo

A gar rodeo is a unique fishing tournament focused on catching one of Louisiana’s most ancient and rugged fish - the gar. Anglers compete in various divisions like jug fishing, pole fishing, bowfishing, and even youth categories. Whether you’re on the water or cheering from the shore, a gar rodeo is a wild ride through local fishing culture. The West Monroe Gar Rodeo, presented by Honey Hole Tackle Shop, will take place in Downtown West Monroe and Lazarre Park from Friday, August 29 - Saturday, August 30.

The West Monroe Boat & Outdoor Expo, presented by Ludwig Marine, is a showcase of everything you need for life outside - from the water to the woods! Explore the latest boats, fishing gear, and outdoor equipment all under one roof. Vendors, demonstrations, and hands-on activities make it a must-visit event for outdoor lovers of all ages. Whether you're an avid angler, a weekend camper, or just love the outdoors, there's something for everyone at the expo! The West Monroe Boat & Outdoor Expo will take place from Thursday, August 28 - Saturday, August 30.

Schedule of Events:
- 5:00 PM: Fisherman Registration in Alley Park
- 6:30 PM: Anglers' meeting in Alley Park
- 7:00 PM: Shotgun Start in Alley Park
- 10:00 PM: Weigh-in begins at Lazarre Park

Note: Fishing is open from 7:00 PM on Friday to 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Ouachita Live Concert
- 7:00 PM: Bring the whole family and enjoy a live concert in Alley Park! Food trucks, snow cones, and more will be on site! Don't miss out.

Saturday, August 30th

Schedule of Events:
- 10:00 AM: Fishing Ends and Final Weigh-in at Lazarre Park
- 10:30 AM: Fish Toss in Grassy Lot by Flying Heart Brewing & Pub.
- 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Coffee Truck & Snow Cones in Alley Park.
- 11:00 AM: Awards in Alley Park/Raffle Prizes.
